Snowball Slam is an Action minigame featured in New Super Mario Bros. It is only playable in the Vs. Battle mode, as it is played with two, three or four players.
Layout[]
The minigame is set on a snowscape, positioned in a landscape format, with an icy platform in the center. The background music is used from Cool, Cool Mountain/Chief Chilly Challenge/Snowman's Land from the Super Mario 64 DS version.
Gameplay[]
The minigame features all of the players as their respective colored Yoshis split into two teams (which are randomly chosen if there are more than two players) and the aim of the minigame is to score the most points by throwing snowballs at the opposing team within the time limit. Players can use the stylus to move their Yoshi around, tapping many Mr. Blizzards to melt (or alternatively the Yoshis can melt them by running into them), and the tap the snow to collect up to a maximum of ten snowballs. The Yoshis can aim their snowball shots to hit the other Yoshis or destroy their Mr. Blizzards. A Mr. Blizzard that was melted will respawn after a few seconds.
Players will start off with ten snowballs each, but if it is a two vs. one match, then the solo player starts of with and can hold a maximum of twenty snowballs. Hitting a Yoshi earns their opponent five points, while hitting any of the opposing team's Mr. Blizzards earns them one point. The team that earns the most points after the time runs out is declared the victor.
