Snowballs are a type of object featured in snow-themed locations in several Mario-related games. They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Description[]
Snowballs are not much different from their real-world counterparts. They start off small but increase in size as they roll through the snow. Snowballs usually serve a purpose of being either a projectile thrown by characters and certain enemies alike or as a massive boulder-like object that rolls down a path and has to be avoided.
In the Yoshi's Island series, a Yoshi can push a Snowball in the same manner as a Chomp Rock. A Yoshi can also stand on a Snowball, but the main difference in functionality is that a Snowball becomes bigger as it is pushed along, and it rolls even quicker down slopes.
In Mario Party series[]
Mario Party 6[]
Snowballs are a major feature of the minigame Snow Brawl. Snowballs are first created from the snow by characters, who then throw them at opponents, attempting to eliminate them. If two snowballs collide, both of them break apart. If a snowball hits a character or one of the solo character's teammates—Ukikis at daytime or Shy Guys at nighttime—they become frozen in solid ice until the minigame ends.
