Mario Party

Slot Trot is a 2-vs-2 minigame which first appears in Mario Party 6 and returns in Mario Party: The Top 100.

Layout[]

The minigame takes place in an amusement park. The slots depict either a Mushroom, a Lakitu's Cloud, a Green Shell, a Fire Flower, a Buzzy Beetle, a Yoshi Egg, a Cheep Cheep, or a red Koopa Paratroopa shell. In Mario Party: The Top 100, the Green Shell, Lakitu's Cloud, and Paratroopa shell slots were all replaced with Koopa Troopas, Boos, and Bullet Bills. In addition, the Buzzy Beetle design was updated to depict its design introduced in New Super Mario Bros..

Gameplay[]

Both slots that are displayed by a Lakitu rotate to a random pair of objects. The objective for both teams is to rotate the slots they are standing on to match each slot on Lakitu's display. The first team to match the display earns a point. Each round takes place fifteen seconds, and it is possible for both teams to score during a round. The first team to earn three points is the winner, but if both teams score three points or too many rounds have passed without either team reaching three points, the minigame ends in a tie.

Ending[]

In Mario Party 6, the camera zooms in on both characters of the winning team, and both of them perform their own victory animation. If the minigame ends in a tie, all four characters each perform their own losing animation.

Trivia[]

  • The minigame's name is a pun on the foxtrot dance.
