Yoshi slipstreaming in MKWii

Yoshi slipstreaming in Mario Kart Wii

Slipstreaming, alternatively named Drafting, is a recurring technique in the Mario Kart series. It first appears in Mario Kart 64.

Description[]

If a racer either trails (or tailgates) behind another racer for a certain period of time, their vehicle receives a speed boost, similarly to the Mini-Turbo. This gives the racer who is slipstreaming the advantage to ram the vehicle behind and race ahead of them.

Some of the Slipstream's other appearances include Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Mario Kart Tour. Slipstreaming also makes its first non-Mario Kart appearance in Mario Golf: Super Rush.

In Mario Golf: Super Rush[]

During Speed Golf or Battle Golf, if a character runs behind an opponent, blue streaks begin to form around them, followed by them eventually gaining a burst of speed.
