Skull Switch

Skull Switch is an item found in New Super Mario Bros. in the castle fights against Bowser in World 1, followed by the boss fight against Dry Bowser in World 8, and at the final boss battle against Bowser and Bowser Jr. in the same world.

When Mario or Luigi gets on the platform with the switch, Bowser tries to push him back on his area. If Mario or Luigi stomp on the Skull Switch, the bridge collapses, causing Bowser to fall below. As such, this object replaces the axe from Super Mario Bros., which has the same function. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the Skull Switch is replaced with a ! Switch.
