Skeleton Goonies are a skeletal variant of Goonies featured in the Yoshi platformers. They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
Skeleton Goonies have a body similar to that of a Goonie's but with a skeletal structure, including pitch black eye sockets. Despite their lack of eyes, Skeleton Goonies still retain a sense of navigation. They also have stubby fork-shaped feet.
Just as Goonies have a flightless variant named Flightless Goonies, Skeleton Goonies have their own named Flightless Skeleton Goonie, which essentially have the same appearance as a Skeleton Goonie but without any wings.
Behavior[]
Like Goonies, Skeleton Goonies are found flying about in the skies. A Yoshi cannot ride on a Skeleton Goonie, unlike Goonies, given that they are weaker. A Skeleton can be knocked out of the sky by throwing an egg at it. Similar to Baron von Zeppelins, some Skeleton Goonies carry a bomb, which they try to drop on a Yoshi if he is nearby.
In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]
Skeleton Goonies are the main feature and obstacle of World 6's first level, Scary Skeleton Goonies!, and one appears on the icon for said level.
In Yoshi's Island DS[]
Skeleton Goonies act the same as in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island but were made smaller. One of the levels where they appear is in The Cave That Never Ends, which has a world map icon featuring a Skeleton Goonie with three Flightless Skeleton Goonies.
