Skating Shy Guys are a variant of Shy Guys which mainly appear in the Mario Kart series. They first appear in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.
Description[]
Skating Shy Guys are ice skaters, hence their name. They can either be found ice skating in icy areas, serving as a hazard, or as goalies in ice hockey.
In Mario Kart series[]
Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]
Skating Shy Guys are featured as obstacles in Sherbet Land, where they ice skate among the path and occasionally twirl into the air. If a racer drives into a Skating Shy Guy, they briefly spin out.
There are two color variations of Skating Shy Guys, blue and red. The only difference between them is that red Skating Shy Guys are always found together as a pair while blue Skating Shy Guys are always found skating alone. The course select icon for Sherbet Land depicts a blue Skating Shy Guy to the right and two red Skating Shy Guys to the left, in a further distance.
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
Skating Shy Guys return in GCN Sherbet Land, acting the same as in the course's Mario Kart: Double Dash!! iteration.
In Mario & Sonic series[]
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Nintendo DS)[]
In the Ice Hockey and Fever Hockey events, two Shy Guys wearing ice skates (although not explicitly defined as the Skating Shy Guys from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!) serve as a goalie, one for each team. The color of the Shy Guy's robe matches the one associated with the team.
