Mario Kart

Shy Guy Beach is a track in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. It has been remade for Mario Kart Wii as a Retro track.

In Mario Kart: Super Circuit[]

Shy Guy Beach is the second course in the Mushroom Cup in Mario Kart: Super Circuit. The track follows Riverside Park and precedes Peach Circuit, and gets its name from the Pirate Guy ship in the background, which spends most of its time shooting cannonballs that makes players spin out if one run into them. The beach is littered by crabs that result in karts completely spin out upon contact. Shallow water makes racers slow down, and deep water just leads into the result of the kart being submerged, having a Fishin' Lakitu have to drag the player out if he or she is underwater too long. At the end of the course is a small umbrella, which is a nice touch.

In Mario Kart Wii[]

Shy Guy Beach re-appears in Mario Kart Wii where it was ported from Mario Kart: Super Circuit as the second track of the Retro Cup, Banana Cup, following Delfino Square and preceding Sherbet Land. This course was remastered in 3D. The new cannonballs now explode after a few seconds, so you will want to steer clear of those. Also, when the player falls into the deep water, he or she can no longer drive underwater, but instead gets immediately fished out by Lakitu. The course map has been updated, where empty spots indicate the grasslands. The starting line has a goal gate now, much like all the Nitro Courses Mario Kart 64 and every game from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and onwards; the gate has a banner with the classic Mario Kart series logo on pink poles.

Staff Ghost[]

There are two different types of Staff Ghosts: Nin⋆Kato using Koopa in the Cheep Charger or Nin⋆Matt using Koopa in the Magikruiser. Kato is used in the Normal Staff Ghost race while Matt is used in the Expert. Their total time is 0.1:45.568 and 0.1:32.867 respectively. The player must win against both on this course.
