The Shunned Guy is a unique Shy Guy enemy first appeared in the Indigo Underground in Paper Mario: Color Splash. They are immune to normal hammer and jump attacks, but can be easily defeated with a fire flower, ice flower, or damage-dealing Thing. Like the regular Slurp Guys, Shunned Guys use their straws to take paint from Mario. Mario encounters them in a few locations, making these enemies super rare.

Names in other languages[]

In Japanese, Shunned Guys are called "Shakuroti Heihōs" (The name's singular is Shakuroti Heihō, and it is derived from a Japanese translation of "inchworm Shy Guy," referring to how they crawl around like worms). In Spanish and Portuguese, they are referred to as "Rastreroguy" (from "arrastrar" (to crawl)) and Masquito Parasita ("Parasite Shy Guy"), respectively. Their Italian name is "Tipo Timido Striscjante," which means "Crawling Shy Guy" (Striscjare means "to crawl."), and the French dub calls them "Maskasse Maudist" (Cursed Shy Guy). German calls them "Raupen Guy", meaning "caterpillar guy." Dutch has no translated name for them.

Trivia[]

  • When the pirate captain from Violet Passage discovers much to his disappointment that the treasure on the island where Wendy O. Koopa was fought had been claimed, said pirate captain's body bends in a similar manner to a Shunned Guy, albeit in a more-rounded manner, and he reverts to normal after a bit upon getting inspiration from another pirate captain that made it to the island
