The Shooting Star is an item that appears in Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario.

The Shooting Star is a multi-hit item that strikes every enemy on the screen for 6 points of damage. It is considered an upgraded version of a Thunder Rage and can be found rarely in areas. Shooting Stars can be bought in Item Shops such as Harry's Shop, Star Haven Shop, and Bowser's Castle Shop.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the Shooting Star also inflicts confusion on top of causing damage, giving it a double purpose and making it even more effective.

In Super Paper Mario, the Shooting Star is used by aiming the Wii Remote at the screen and shooting the stars to increase the item's attack power. Once the input is complete, the stars rain down and deliver damage to every enemy visible. The Shooting Star can also be made into a Meteor Meal via Saffron's Restaurant, in which case the item requires no input from the player and delivers an instant 20 HP of damage to every enemy present on the field, making it valuable for boss battles and against tough enemies with sturdy defenses.

  • The Shooting Star is similar to Skolar's ability Star Storm. However, it is recommended to use a Shooting Star as Star Storm takes away 3 SP from the Star Gauge.
