Personality traits[]

Attention Mario Wiki users!: This section is short or lacks sufficient information. We would appreciate it if you help the Mario Wiki by expanding it.

While not much is known about her personality, Serpci is shown to be a bit flirty, blowing a kiss when Luigi steps into her arena after his trek through the Tomb Suites. Whether she is actually loyal to King Boo or was brainwashed or strongarmed into helping him is unknown.

Powers[]

When she is fought, Serpci can manipulate sand, creating a shield.

Battle[]

When Luigi returns to the Sandy Grand Hall after releasing Serpci, she blows a kiss from behind Luigi which also sprays sand onto Luigi's body. She then creates a tornado which buries herself inside and rises up as a giant head of herself. She now attacks Luigi by letting four send cobras sprout from her giant head, two of them will leap at Luigi. If they misses and hit the ground, they will get dizzy and can't move. Luigi can suck up the two cobras now. After a few times, Serpci will appear on the ground with six cobras and launch them, blow them to avoid her attack. This gives Luigi a chance to flash and suck her up. Serpci also attacks by burrowing herself into the sand and leap out to crush Luigi under the sand, Luigi has to avoid the shockwave by a Burst. She sometimes forms and raises a fist to aim at Luigi which Luigi also has to destroy it with a Burst. You will get the eleventh floor's elevator button after sucking her up. When she is defeated, she assumes a resting pose before being sucked in.

Trivia[]

  • Serpci may be based off one of the Egyptain pharoah, Cleopatra.
  • In the Central Chamber, Serpci is depicted on a gargantuan statue, though her head is missing. This may be a foreshadowing of how she buries herself in a sand shield that resembles her, only as just a head.
  • Serpci's sand form resembles Medusa in Greek mythology.
  • During Serpci's battle, the glitch occurs when Serpci appears with six sand cobras. If Luigi touches the cobra in front of Serpci, the sand cobra will remain in front of Serpci. It will stay during the boss battle and after Serpci's defeat. For more information, see List of glitches in Luigi's Mansion 3.

Nomenclature[]

In Japanese, Serpci is called "Sāpentis," written サーペンティス and romanised as "Serpentis" and derived from "serpent" and "-tis." Alternatively, this could be derived from "Serpēns," the present participle of the Latin verb serpere, which means "to crawl." In Chinese, her name is Shébīntísī, derived from Shé (蛇), which means "snake," and her Japanese name. Her Dutch name is Serpentina, which comes from "serpent" and the Italian feminine diminutive -ina. Her French name is "Cleo Patatras," from Cleopatra's name merged with patatras (kerplunk). In German, she is called "Sandra Stürmer," a pun on "sandsturm" (sandstorm), the name "Sandra," and stürmer (striker). The Italian dub calls her "Ectopatra," from Portuguese ectoplasma (ectoplasm) and Cleopatra's name. In Korean, she is called "Seopentisu," a borrowing from her Japanese name and written 서펜티스. In Spanish, she is called "Serpertiti," a pun on Nefertiti's name and serpiente (snake).
