The Sergeant Guy Cannon is a Banzai Bill Cannon used by Sergeant Guy during Mario's battle against the Elite Trio in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.

Description[]

The Sergeant Guy Cannon is indistinguishable from other Banzai Bill Cannons. It is black and large and resembles a larger Bill Blaster.

Combat[]

Unless it is loaded, the cannon is immune to attack. However, Sergeant Guy can load a Banzai Bill into its barrel on his turn. This allows Mario and Luigi to strike the cannon, causing it to prematurely fire. If the Bros. fail to do this, the Banzai Bill is launched on Sergeant Guy's next turn, and the target has to flee, done by mashing their appropriate button. If the victim escapes the warhead, Sergeant Guy will get hit by the Banzai Bill (which presumably flies through a warp field or portal) instead, getting knocked down. The sergeant will recover from his daze immediately afterward if he has any hit points left; otherwise, one of his comrades will wake him up. If the Banzai Bill scores a hit, the target is launched onto his brother, damaging both of them; the Bro. who got hit takes more damage due to the Banzai Bill's explosion.

If the Bros. attack the cannon (which displays no number when struck) when Sergeant Guy has loaded it, Sergeant Guy, Corporal Paraplonk, Private Goomp, and the lattermost's minions get hit by the Banzai Bill instead, flying through the same portal.

The cannon is coded as a Level 23 enemy with an attack power of 189 without any item drops and giving no experience when it is defeated, although it cannot be truly destroyed no matter how hard of an attack it takes.

Trivia[]

  • Despite having a role in the battle, where it is a weapon that can be used by another enemy, the Sergeant Guy Cannon is missing completely from the overworld. Its sprite vanishing when Mario and Luigi defeat Sergeant Guy, Corporal Paraplonk, and Private Goomp implies that Kamek took it away at the end, but this doesn't explain why it isn't dragged into the battle at the start and has no overworld sprites immediately before.
