The Satellaview is a satellite modem peripheral for the Super Famicom, exclusively in Japan. It was released on April 23, 1995, and was produced as a joint effort between Nintendo and St.GIGA, a large Japanese satellite radio company at the time. With the Satellaview, players could download games, magazines, and other media through satellite broadcasts provided by St.GIGA themselves. The games were stored on an 8M Memory Pack.
Since none of the Satellaview games received a commercial release, or are a variation of commercially available titles, many have become lost media, only recoverable from 8M Memory Packs from players who had downloaded the games to them at the time.
