Roof is a location in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version.
Description[]
The Roof is a large, symmetrical area with a few pillars, a heightened structure on each side that can be climbed using a ladder, and a small bonfire in the center. The heightened structure on the right has an opening that leads down to the optional Sealed Room. The Roof is the largest room in the entire mansion. In the Nintendo 3DS version, the pillars are more intricately designed and have plants atop them.
In Luigi's Mansion[]
The Roof becomes accessible in Area Four. To go up to the roof, Luigi has to take an elevator in the Clockwork Room. Here, Luigi has to defeat six Ghost Guys and two Flashes. A Fire Elemental Ghost spawns from the bonfire, as the effects of releasing fire onto the Flashes is required to defeat them. After Luigi has defeated every ghost, the key to the Armory spawns on the heightened structure to the left.
Later on, Luigi is transported here for the final battle against King Boo in the Bowser suit. A notable difference is that during the battle, the edges of the arena are engulfed in flames, and the Roof goes unlabeled on the Game Boy Horror's map during this.
In the Hidden Mansion of PAL releases and the Nintendo 3DS version, there are significantly more ghosts. While the number of Ghost Guys were decreased to two, the number of Flashes were increased to five, and a Bowling Ghost, a Gold Ghost, a Purple Puncher, a Blue Twirler, a red Grabbing Ghost, and a Garbage Can Ghost have been added each.
