Rocketbarrel Boost is a reoccurring move that is used by Diddy Kong that is first seen in Donkey Kong 64.
Appearances[]
Donkey Kong 64[]
In order to learn the Rocketbarrel Boost, Diddy must first visit Cranky Kong at Angry Aztec to get the potion for it at the price of five medals. In this game, the Rocketbarrel Boost allows Diddy to fly around in the air while, at the same time, use his Peanut Popguns. This is an extremely useful technique as it allows Diddy to access heights that the other Kongs cannot reach. However, Diddy can only maintain this move as long he has Crystal Coconuts. If he runs out of Crystal Coconuts while still in the air, he will down and take damage. The Rocketbarrel Boost has a rather strict controlling as Diddy may turn too hard if not handled correctly.
The Rocketbarrel Boost in this game is also used for one of Diddy's missions for Hideout Helm and for the final boss fight with King Krusha K. Rool.
Super Smash Bros. series[]
The Rocketbarrel Boost first appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as Diddy's recovery move (Up+B). The Rocketbarrel Boost also appears in his final smash, the Rocketbarrel Barrage, where Diddy can use his Peanut Popguns during this attack while inflicting high damage. This Final Smash is also directly controlled by the player.
The Rocketbarrel Boost again returns as Diddy's recovery move and final smash in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. However, unlike in Brawl, the Rocketbarrel Barrage is now on an auto-striking move where Diddy attacks his opponents by colliding into them multiple times, and then delivers one powerful strike to a random victim. Diddy can no longer use his Peanut Popguns during this Final Smash in these games.
