"Reptiles in the Rose Garden" is the second overall episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. It is paired with "Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas."

Synopsis[]

King Koopa is very depressed today, because it is his daughter Kootie Pie's 16th birthday. She is not happy with the presents she received, as she wants more. She then screams, "I want America for my birthday!", which the Koopa king is reluctant to grant since "America's in the real world". But it's either that or put up with her whining even more, so he agrees to do it.

Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool catch sight of King Koopa's Doomship headed for the real world, and the Koopas capture them and imprison them in his castle. The Koopas find the White House and warp it to his castle (Mr. President doesn't notice because he's on the telephone). Kootie Pie calls a press conference to recite her new "laws".

At Kastle Koopa, Princess Toadstool provokes the Hammer Brother guards to a fight, using the crossfire to cut their chains off. King Koopa then warps the White House down to the bottom of the Mushroom Sea. Mario puts on a Frog Suit and dives in. After arriving and being mistaken by Mrs. President for a member of the Secret Service, he goes to the basement, attaching pipes, putting them out the windows, and turning the wheel. This propels the White House to the surface of the water. After saving the President and his family, the Princess, Toad and Luigi arrive to tell Mario that the Koopas are loading up the doomship for attacks on London, Paris and Brooklyn. It's up to Mario and Luigi to stop King Koopa and his Koopa army before they can teleport anything else from the Real World.

Mario and Luigi disguise themselves as Hammer Brothers in order to sneak aboard the Doomship and hijack it, but their disguises fool no one. Fleeing from the Sledge Hammer Brothers, Mario then looks for the engine room to take control of the Doomship. Luigi uses a cannon to hold off the Koopas while his brother prepares the doomship for take off. Mario finds the warp gun and accidentally warps the White House on top of the Washington Monument. He then puts it back where it belongs, and teleports King Koopa back to Kastle Koopa. He then crash lands the ship into one of the castle's walls, destroying it completely. As Bowser grieves over his ruined doomship, Kootie Pie blames him for letting the Mario Bros. capture it, teleport her home, and save America. Bowser finally gets fed up with her and commands her to do her chores. Outside, the heroes hear Bowser's rants as Luigi remarks that Bowser is finally giving Wendy "the present she deserves."

Trivia/Goofs[]

  • This marks the only time in the cartoons where Toad appears, but doesn't have any lines. He does yell along with everyone else however, and his "squeaking" sounds are still present.
  • This is Wendy's first episode in which she has lines in the Mario cartoon trilogy.
  • At the beginning of this episode, Bowser sounds a lot different than he usually does in the cartoons.
  • "Do the Frog" is the episode's featured song.
  • After Mario and the rest cut off their chains, there are two Chain Chomps still connected to their blocks, along with a lone Hammer Brother doing nothing.
  • Wendy's new "laws" were:
    • Every kid in America must give her their toys.
    • Any handsome boy that does not take her on a date will be turned into a rock.
    • All the gold in Fort Knox will be melted to make her an infinite supply of charm bracelets.
  • The White House seems to land right on top of Kootie Pie, but in the very next shot, she's a good distance away from it.
  • This is the first time that Earth is mentioned as "the real world" in the Super Mario Bros. cartoons. Apparently, the characters are aware that they don't actually exist.
  • Bowser's plan to invade Brooklyn doesn't make sense, because Wendy has already taken over America and therefore, the Koopas already have control of Brooklyn.
  • When Bowser tells the Sledge Bros. to warp the White House to the Mushroom Kingdom, their beaks turn green.
  • This episode reveals Wendy's age to be 16. Whether or not this makes her older than her brothers is unknown; however Lemmy and Iggy are often stated to be the youngest Koopalings.
