Red Eggs are a type of Yoshi Egg featured as an item in the Yoshi franchise. They first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
In the Yoshi's Island series[]
Red Eggs are among the eggs that can be carried around by a Yoshi. Throwing a Red Egg at an enemy causes two Stars to be released. There are red-spotted Egg Blocks that turn into a Red Egg when jumped at, like yellow ones that turn into a Yellow Egg upon being jumped at. Furthermore, if a regular Yoshi Egg hits a surface twice, it becomes a Red Egg, but if it bounces too much, the Red Egg falls offscreen.
In Yoshi's Crafted World[]
Like in the Yoshi's Island series, a Red Egg is created if a regular Yoshi Egg bounces off a surface twice. Throwing a Red Egg at an enemy automatically earns the playable Yoshi three hearts.
