Wario Land

Recapitators are an enemy in Wario Land: Shake It!.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

They are skeletal enemies with a few spikes on their head. Recapitators are featured in two color variations: gray and greenish.

Behavior[]

Similar to the Zombies from other Wario Land games, a Recapitator attacks Wario by throwing its own head, which travels on a straight path toward Wario before returning to the Recapitator like a boomerang. The spikes on a Recapitator's head protect it from Wario's stomp attack. If a Recapitator falls apart from Wario's Dash Attack, it reassembles itself after a while, much like what Dry Bones from the Mario franchise can do.

The gray Recapitators do not move around, while the greenish ones walk from side to side on a platform and stop moving while trying to attack Wario.

In Wario Land: Shake It![]

To defeat a Recapitator, Wario must attack it with a Dash Attack or Ground Pound while its head is away from the rest of the body. In doing so, the head passes the body and breaks when it hits a wall. Recapitators are not affected by Earthshake Punches.

Both color variations of Recapitators are encountered in the level Boogie Mansion. In Large Fry Cook-Off, only the greenish variant makes an appearance. Here, while a Recapitator's head is away from its body, it is possible for Large Fry to destroy the head using his charging attack. Shortly after Large Fry's attack, the body breaks apart on its own while waiting for the head to return.

Behind the scenes[]

Etymology[]

A Recapitator's name is a play on "decapitation," the removal of someone's head, but substitutes the "de-" prefix with "re-" to denote a return to a previous state; in other words, a Recapitator's name refers to the act of putting a head back on.
