Raphael the Raven, or Raphael Raven, is an enlarged Raven who first appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island as a boss.

The boss fight against Raphael the Raven in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Raphael the Raven is the boss of World 5, within his boss level, Raphael The Raven's Castle. He is fought on a moon in space. When Raphael is enlarged, he bumps into Blue Yoshi, causing him to lose his eggs. Because of this, Blue Yoshi can only damage Raphael by Ground Pounding Stumps protruding from the moon, but only if Raphael is standing on a hole on the opposite end. Raphael can still be damaged by Blue Yoshi if he quickly Ground Pounds the stump while Raphael is moving to damage him.

Raphael's behavior consists of jiggling and trotting around the moon, with his only main attack being to cause two sparks to circle around the moon. The more hits Raphael takes, the redder and angrier he becomes. Upon being defeated, Raphael flies into the starry sky and becomes a star.

Tetris Attack[]

Raphael is the seventh boss of Vs. Mode in the Game Boy version and the eighth boss in the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version. In the latter version, Raphael replaces the Seren from Panel de Pon.

In Paper Mario[]

Raphael the Raven has mellowed out and become an ally of Mario's. Raphael retains his large size. Mario has trouble getting into Mt. Lavalava and requests the help of Raphael the Raven. Raphael agrees to this, so he has the other Ravens build a transportation system that allows Mario to get into Mt. Lavalava.
