Rainbow Cruiser

Not to be confused with Rainbow Cruise, a stage in the Super Smash Bros. series.

The Rainbow Cruiser is a vehicle which first appears in Super Mario 64.

Description[]

The Rainbow Cruiser is a six-winged wooden airship that is usually located in Rainbow Ride.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario 64[]

The Rainbow Cruiser appears in Rainbow Ride, where Mario can get to it by using a series of Magic Carpets. He first has to take the Magic Carpet to the right of the course's starting point, then ride the Magic Carpet to the right of the spinning platforms, and lastly the Magic Carpet to the left at the end of the second carpet's path. Once at the Rainbow Cruiser, the player must jump over platforms and Falling Blocks to climb onto it.

On the Rainbow Cruiser, there is a heavy wind that blows Mario to the stern. Two Bob-ombs and a Lakitu are on the deck, and a cannon is on the stern. The Power Star for the first mission, Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow, is on the ship's bow. A 1-UP Mushroom can be found on the tip of the bowsprit. The ship's mast is in the center, and a 1-UP Mushroom spawns from it when climbed to the top. Once the cannon is opened, by talking to the Bob-omb Buddy at the start of Rainbow Ride, Mario can use it to reach a platform with a Chuckya and a yellow block containing the Power Star for the sixth mission, Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Super Mario 64 DS[]

The Rainbow Cruiser has some differences in the remake. One of the Bob-ombs is replaced with a Goomba. The Star and 1-UP Mushroom have switched spots, with the Star on the very end of the bowsprit and the 1-UP Mushroom simply on the bow. A red block containing a Power Flower was added near the stern.

Several of the levels of Toad Shot take place on the Rainbow Cruiser.
