- "I'm Chilliam, prince of Slippenglide Island!"
Prince Chilliam of Slippenglide Island, also simply known as Prince Chilliam or Chilliam, is a supporting character from Mario & Luigi: Brothership. He is the prince of the Slippenglide folk. During the events of the game, Prince Chilliam fled his home for Bulbfish Island (where Mario and Luigi encounter him the first time) to have his date with his girlfriend, Princess Burnadette of the Skorcheen people, due to the Slippenglide and Skorcheen peoples being at war.
Profile[]
Physical Appearance[]
Prince Chilliam is a blue-skinned Concordian. He wears a white coat and trousers and has blue hair.
Personality[]
Prince Chilliam is shown to be laid-back, and prone to making puns; the latter is a trait adopted from his father.
History[]
Chilliam makes his debut in the Brrning Sea chapter, where Mario, Luigi, and Snoutlet encounter him and his girlfriend Burnadette having a date on Bulbfish Island. Chilliam explains that he and his girlfriend fled their homes due to their peoples being enemies. However, Chilliam admits his worry of his parents back at Slippenglide. When Snoutlet lets slip that the Bros. have reconnected many of Concordia's islands, Chilliam states that Bulbfish Island's chief might know where the lighthouse is. During an investigation, Chilliam and Burnadette fall under arrest by the Bulbfish people due to being found with Bulbfish-Eggs (in actuality, their arrest was due to their role as strangers), but are released when Mario and Luigi discover the true perpetrator (Leyden's son and assistant). Chilliam, one of those who forgive the assistant, proposes to put the blame on a mysterious stranger and leave it at that.
When the Bros. reconnect Bulbfish island to the Uni-Tree, Chilliam and Burnadette visit the island with a request to reconnect Heatfreeze Island, despite the Skorcheen and Slippenglide peoples still fighting. Mario and Luigi do so, but Chilliam is forced to turn on his girlfriend before they can have the wedding when the Extension Corps arrives on the ship and infects him with a toxic substance called Glohm, which causes victims to seek isolation. Mario and Luigi leave the ship to find Doctor Vulko, who prescribes Ampberries, restoring Chilliam's personality and love of Burnadette. Restored back to his normal self, Chilliam marries Burnadette on Heatfreeze Island despite Shun's attempts to sabotage it.
Chilliam and Burnadette are later said to have disappeared after Reclusa awakens, but it is revealed that they have retreated to the caverns beneath their homes, so it couldn't trap them or infect them with Glohm. Their romance generates a blob of positive energy called a "Bond," which Mario and Luigi swipe for their invasion of the Soli-Tree.
