Pokey Punch-out is a 4-Player mini-game in Mario Party 6.
Layout[]
The background of the area is Shifting Sand Land from Super Mario 64, which is mainly noticeable from the pyramid and two pillars near it as well as Klepto flying around. The sky reflects whether it is daytime or nighttime, but the gameplay of the mini-game is unaffected.
Opening[]
The characters are standing idly, and are shocked as several Pokeys emerge from the ground behind them.
Gameplay[]
The characters have to punch and/or kick at the Pokeys' body segments to knock them out. Whenever a character attacks a segment, they earn points. Attacking a Pokey's head destroys all its body segments at once, which rewards several points at once as if the segments had been knocked out individually. If a character either jumps onto or punches a different character, their target becomes stunned briefly. Whoever gets the most points within the 30-second time limit is the winner.
Pokey Punch-out is the sixth minigame in Decathlon Park. Here, the objective is to earn as many points from attacking the Pokeys as possible. By default, the record is 15 points, but it is possible to get up to 1,000 points.
Ending[]
The remaining Pokeys retreat into the sand, and each character performs their victory or losing animation accordingly.
Controls[]
: Move
: Jump
: Punch
(while in midair): Kick
Trivia[]
- The Miracle Book has a page based on Pokey Punch-out, "Prickly Brawl," which depicts Waluigi and Koopa Kid punching Pokeys.
