The Plunder Chest is an item that appears in the earlier Mario Party games. The Plunder Chest is a tiny treasure chest that is empty. The Plunder Chest debuted in Mario Party 2 and could be collected from an Item Shop or from an Item Mini-game. When a player uses the Plunder Chest, they will steal a random item from a random player. The Plunder Chest makes a return in Mario Party 3 with exactly the same function, but this time the player is now able to choose what player to steal from. However, the item that is stolen from the opposing character is random. It also has a counterpart in Mario Party 3 called the Barter Box, which swaps items between the two opposing players.
