Mario Party

The Plunder Chest is a recurring item in the Mario Party series. It first appears in Mario Party 2 and returns in Mario Party 3, Mario Party Superstars, and Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Description[]

The Plunder Chest is a treasure chest that can steal an item from an opponent, but the exactness differs between some of the games. In Mario Party 2, when used, the Plunder Chest steals an item from another player, chosen at random out of all opponents that have items. The stolen item can then be used immediately (unless it is a Bowser Bomb), or held for a later turn as usual. In Mario Party 3 and all later games, the Plunder Chest steals a random item from an opponent of the user's choosing, and the received item cannot be used before rolling.

In Mario Party series[]

Mario Party 2 / Mario Party 3[]

In Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3, it is Princess Peach's favorite item. It costs 15 Coins to buy at an Item Shop in Mario Party 2, while in Mario Party 3, it costs 10 coins, exclusively at Baby Bowser's Shop.

Mario Party Superstars[]

In Mario Party Superstars, the Plunder Chest is normally exclusive to Item Minigames, but it can be purchased from the Forest Shop in Woody Woods for 20 coins, meaning it is not a special item. The Hidden-Block Card shares the same trait.

Super Mario Party Jamboree[]

In Super Mario Party Jamboree, the Plunder Chest can be purchased at Kamek's Shop for 20 coins. It can also be obtained from an Item Space or Item Bag.
