Mario Party

Player Conveyor is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9.

Opening[]

A full view of the room is shown before the focus shifts to the conveyor belt field.

Gameplay[]

The characters must ride conveyor belts to reach the finish line in the center, marked by a yellow and black-checkered square. Characters can neither move nor get off a conveyor belt until they reach the path at the end, whether outside of the conveyor area or onto a metal square. When a character is on a metal square, they can decide to move in any of the cardinal directions, but it is possible for an opponent to push them off. There are two sets of Warp Pipes, and entering one takes a character out of the opposite one. The Warp Pipes can potentially assist the characters in reaching the end. There are also springing squares marked by a red exclamation mark that launch whoever moves onto it outside the conveyor area. Every conveyor belt is rectangular and a different color based on its length. Whoever reaches the center first is the winner. When a character reaches the finish, they sparkle briefly and do a victory pose.

Player Conveyor has a time limit of two minutes, although the timer does not appear until after one minute has elapsed. Once it does, the correct path to the finish lights up for all characters. If time runs out, any characters who did not manage to reach the center lose the minigame and end in last place. If none of the characters reach the center before time runs out, all of them end in last place.

Controls[]

  • +Control Pad: Move

Flavor text[]

  • Rules: Navigate the conveyor belts to get to the goal in the center. Once you get on a conveyor belt, you can't get off until you reach its end.
  • Controls: Hold the Wii Remote sideways. Press +Control Pad to move.

Trivia[]

  • On rare occasions, it is possible for all characters to not be able to progress, essentially softlocking the minigame until time runs out.
