Mario Party

Pit or Platter is a Free-for-All mini-game in Mario Party 9.

Opening[]

A ball drops onto the captain's plate, then the screen divides into four to show each character's side of the screen.

Gameplay[]

The objective is for the characters to try and earn the highest score within the 30-second time limit by tilting their respective plate to roll the ball into glowing areas. At first, rolling the ball onto a glowing area is worth a point, but the point value increases for every consecutive area lit without the ball falling off, and this can go up to five points. If the ball falls off the plate, the point value is reset. Whoever has the highest score by the end is the winner.

In Time Attack, clearing the minigame requires the player to obtain at least 100 points. There is also a bonus objective, which is achieved by not having the ball fall off even once.

Flavor text[]

  • Rules: Tilt the platter to roll your ball into the glowing areas. Earn more points by scoring repeatedly without dropping the ball.
  • Controls: Hold the Wii Remote sideways. Tilt the Wii Remote to control the angle of your platter.

Triva[]

  • The minigame's name is a pun on the term "pitter-patter."
