Pirate Goombas[1] are a species in Mario Party 8. They are a variant of Goombas, and three of them serve as the crew of Captain Goomba.

Pirate Goombas look like regular Goombas except they wear a green bandana on their head.
In Mario Party 8[]
Pirate Goombas are only found in Goomba's Booty Boardwalk, where they appear next to a Green Space a few spaces before the end. If a player lands on their Green Space, the three Goombas will exclaim that "landlubbers" are not allowed to meet their captain and are only worthy to be cannon fodder. Upon saying this, the pirate Goombas immediately surround the character, load them into the cannon, and blast them back to the start. Additionally, Captain Goomba commands them to do the same in the Star Battle Arena after the player rolls a Coin Block in the Coin Block Area.
A lone pirate Goomba (referred to as Scavenger Goomba)[1] is the subject of another Green Space, where it attempts to scavenge a shipwreck for coins. If a player lands on the Green Space, they will find a treasure chest. The Scavenger Goomba then wonders where the player found the treasure chest, admires the player for finding it, and tells them to take it. The player then opens the treasure chest, which contains coins for the player.

- Pirate Goomba became a relatively popular meme when a user on the Super Mario Wiki created an article on Pirate Goomba in 2007 that said "Pirate Goomba is a pirate Goomba."
