Pink Yoshis (also erroneously referred to as Magenta Yoshis) are a color variety of Yoshi debuting in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They are known for being rather lazy and sleepy and are often times seen taking naps, despite this, they are just as adventurous as the other Yoshis.
History[]
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island/Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[]
Pink Yoshis are first seen in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. In this game, they are playable characters in the second level of each world. They retain the abilities of the other Yoshis being playable in Watch Out Below!, The Baseball Boys, Jungle Rythm, The Cave Of The Lakitus, Ride The Ski Lifts, and The Cave Of The Bandits.
In the original Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, the Pink Yoshi's coloring was a more magenta color in-game however this was fixed in Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 where he is now a truer pink color.
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[]
Several Pink Yoshis appear as non-playable characters on Yo'ster Isle in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Unlike the other Yoshis in this game, they have blue shoes, shells, and scales on their backs. One Pink Yoshi can store any Yoshi Cookies Mario and his allies currently have from winning Yoshi races but he can only store up to 200, any more than that, Mario will have to withdraw one.
Yoshi's Story[]
Pink Yoshis appear in Yoshi's Story, as one of the many playable Yoshis that you can choose from before starting a level. A Pink Yoshi wears yellow shoes and a red saddle in this game, a color scheme also present in most later games, excluding Super Mario Sunshine. It does not differ from other playable Yoshis apart from its color and diet.

Mario Party[]
A Pink Yoshi appears in Mario Party, it can be seen on the Yoshi's Tropical Island sitting on a small deserted island surrounded by Whirlpools.
Mario Kart: Super Circuit[]
A Pink Yoshi appears as a playable character in Mario Kart: Super Circuit exclusive to the multiplayer mode when playing with players that don't have Mario Kart: Super Circuit inserted in their Game Boy Advance. Player 2 is always a Pink Yoshi.
Super Mario Sunshine[]
A Pink Yoshi appears in Super Mario Sunshine. In this game, a Yoshi will hatch as a Pink Yoshi upon eating a Coconut or Banana. A Yoshi can also become a Pink Yoshi if it eats the aforementioned fruits (this tactic is required for beating the "Yoshi's Fruit Adventure" mission in Ricco Harbor). Whenever a Pink Yoshi spews juice at an enemy, it turns into a pink platform which moves vertically upward, this can be useful for reaching platforms or ledges that are too high up otherwise.
Yoshi Touch & Go[]
In Yoshi Touch & Go, you can acquire a Pink Yoshi by achieving a score of at least 80, but less than 100 points in the vertical falling parts of the game. Here, the Pink Yoshi can carry a total of 30 eggs and is the third slowest Yoshi, being faster than the Cyan Yoshi but slower than the Blue Yoshi.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time[]
Pink Yoshis are seen again in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. In this game, they are seen in Yoshi's Island, and they (along with the rest of the Yoshis) are eaten by the colossal Shroobified Yoshi, Yoob. When Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, and Baby Luigi end up inside Yoob, they find one of the Pink Yoshis stranded on a platform above some spikes so they create a bridge for him to escape and he helps by helping push the Chomp Rock down Yoob's belly to open the path forward, another Pink Yoshi can be seen trapped inside a Yoob Egg which the baby plumbers must break open with their water-spitting powers. Finally, another Pink Yoshi is seen during the battle with Sunnycide as the final Yoshi that needs to be freed to knock the Chomp Rock over his head to reveal his weak point. After Sunnycide's defeat, the plumbers, and all the Yoshis including the Pink Yoshis escape Yoob's belly.
Yoshi's Island DS[]
Pink Yoshis return in Yoshi's Island DS once again retaining the same role as before, in this game, they appear in the second level of each world, these being Hit the M Blocks!, Underground Mysteries, The Goonie Coast Isn't Clear!, High-Speed Cart Race, and Goonie Heights. A Pink Yoshi is also seen during the final battle as Baby Peach's Yoshi. The Pink Yoshi is playable during the fight if Yoshi enters the boss door with Baby Peach.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[]
Pink Yoshi makes an appearance in New Super Mario Bros. Wii as one of the rideable Yoshis alongside the Green Yoshi, Yellow Yoshi, and the Cyan Yoshi. He retains the same abilities as the other Yoshis, being able to swallow enemies, stomp on spiked enemies harmlessly, and he can also swallow Berries, swallowing five will award the plumbers with either a power-up or a 1-Up Mushroom. The Pink Yoshi is Blue Toad's signature Yoshi, originally, a Red Yoshi was going to appear in the Pink Yoshi's place. The Pink Yoshi is always the fourth Yoshi color to hatch.
Yoshi's New Island[]
Pink Yoshis are seen again in Yoshi's New Island. In this game, they are once again playable in the second level of each world. They once again retain their primary role from the previous games in the series. Also, upon completing a special level, the Green Yoshi will pass Baby Mario over to a Pink Yoshi rather than another Green Yoshi.
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]
A Pink Yoshi appears as a playable character in Mario Kart 8 as of the November 2014 update. The Pink Yoshi (alongside several other colored Yoshis) can be unlocked by purchasing both DLC Packs. The Pink Yoshi can be selected through a dropdown menu which comes up when selecting Yoshi. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Pink Yoshi and all the other colored Yoshis are unlocked by default and don't need to be purchased. The Pink Yoshi is player-exclusive meaning CPU Pink Yoshis never race.
Yoshi's Woolly World / Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World[]
Pink Yoshi is back in Yoshi's Woolly World and Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World as a playable character. If you pick file two, Pink Yoshi is the default playable character, alongside Red Yoshi, who is always playable. The Pink Yoshi does not play differently from the other Yoshis in the game. If the game is not played on file two, Pink Yoshi can be unlocked as a playable character in two ways, the hard way is by completing King Bowser's Castle and the easy way is by scanning a Pink Yarn Yoshi amiibo.
Paper Mario: Color Splash[]
Pink Yoshis are seen again in Paper Mario: Color Splash alongside numerous other Yoshis encaged in the Emerald Circus, unlike most other games, the Pink Yoshis are actually wild creatures who get a kick out of swallowing anyone nearby. After Lemmy Koopa disappears during his performance, all the Yoshis escape, during Mario's battles in the Circus Tent, a Pink Yoshi may show up to swallow him, if successful, it will spit out Mario for some damage and also cause him to lose his Battle Card, if Mario blocks the attack, the Pink Yoshi leaves harmlessly.
Yoshi's Crafted World[]
Pink Yoshis return in Yoshi's Crafted World retaining the same role as in previous games, they are among one of the selectable Yoshis and can be played as in any level of the game.
Mario Kart Tour[]
Pink Yoshi appears in Mario Kart Tour as an unlockable racer, in this game, he can be unlocked by purchasing him from the shop for Coins or as a mystery prize from the Pipes. His Special Item is the Heart.

Trivia[]
- Pink Yoshi is featured on the cover art picture of the North American Yoshi's Story cartridge.
- On the world map of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, a Red Yoshi is erroneously in the Pink Yoshi's place while the Pink Yoshi is in the Red Yoshi's place on the seventh level. This error was fixed in the GBA remake Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 and both Yoshis are in their correct placements on the world map.
- In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, if the Yoshi Kid takes 15-18 minutes to hatch, it hatches as a Pink Yoshi Kid. The Pink Yoshi Kid has green hair, and red polka dotted pants.
- A Pink Yoshi, alongside various other Yoshis, cameos in the first lap of Yoshi Park 1 in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, where pictures of them pop out of egg props.
