Pepper

Peppers, or Chili Peppers, are a type of spicy fruit from the real world. They made a few appearances within Mario-related media, having first appeared in Yoshi's Story.

In Yoshi's Story[]

Most Yoshis dislike Peppers, and if any Yoshi except for Black Yoshi and White Yoshi eat a Pepper, they lose one petal from the Smile Meter.

In Super Mario Sunshine[]

Peppers are one of the fruits found in Delfino Plaza. Here, if Yoshi eats a Pepper, he becomes Purple Yoshi. Later at Sirena Beach, during King Boo's boss fight in Episode 5: King Boo Down Below, Peppers have an essential role in that Mario has to throw one at King Boo's tongue to burn it, giving him the chance to attack it with another fruit.
