Mario Kart

Peach Gardens is a recurring course in the Mario Kart series, first appearing in Mario Kart DS.

Layout[]

Peach Gardens takes place in the gardens of Princess Peach's Mansion. It is located in the gardens of a large country estate that bears a similar design to Peach's Castle. Obstacles in its layout include Chain Chomps and Monty Moles, both capable of attacking the player. It is often blocked by large hedges which cannot be driven through and patches of grass that slow players down. However, a speed booster such as a Mushroom or a Star can be used to get across the grass for a shortcut.

The player starts facing south, with the Mario Kart gate south of the starting line itself. When the racers begin, they must head south onto a large octogonal island, crossing a bridge. They must take another bridge to the east to get off, then make a wide turn around some grass, heading south. At the southeast corner, the racers must turn right, heading west through a series of hedges at the south end of the course. Another right turn appears at the southwest corner, and the racers head north through a peace sign-shaped series of hedges at the western edge. This is followed by a winding road to the southwest corner of the mansion where the northwest corner of the course resides, then a right turn as the racers drive onto the porch.

This track later reappears as a retro course in Mario Kart Wii. as the second course in the Lightning Cup. An element added for this version are two ramps found near the soil path right next to where the Monty Moles jump up. The Chain Chomps now have chains and they move more slowly. The sign was also moved more northward to be in line with the start/finish line. The course map is rotated 180 degrees clockwise.

The course contains various gardening elements such as ornamental trees and flowers. Some parts of the road are decorated by trellised arches, like the one standing over the starting line that supports the "Mario Kart" banner on it. The track also includes a pond with a circular terrace that has a garden sculpture of Mario in the center. This is the only part of the track that is not protected by fences and falling into the pond causes Lakitu to put the player back on the track. The rest of the track, however, is protected by fences and tall hedges serving as walls. This grass sculpture of Mario resembles his design from Super Mario 64, which in turn makes it resemble the Mario ice sculpture in N64 Frappe Snowland.

A remixed version of this course's music is used for the golf course of the same name in Mario Golf: World Tour.

Shortcuts[]

  • Using mushrooms the player can boost through numerous flowerbeds throughout the track going in front of the sign at your right.
  • The first square flowerbed the player comes across has a small path to the right of it, which shaves a second or two off the player's time.
  • For the dirt road section towards the end, mushrooms can cut out the corners.

Other Tips[]

Shells and other items can take out the Monty Moles that are on the dirt track at the end.

Staff Ghost[]

Mario Kart Wii has a Normal Staff named "Nin*Ito.y with Baby Peach on a Magikruiser. Unlocking an expert staff is Nin*==Kony as Baby Peach (again) on a Mini Beast. Respectively, his personal best is 2:16.777.

Missions[]

Peach Gardens is the setting of mission 5-1. The mission involves the player having to finish one lap around the course before a Chain Chomp. Notably, it uses a rearrangement of the Chain Chomp theme from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as its background music exclusive to this mission, having a changed melody and extended bass line and bridge.

Mission 6-8 also takes place here. In this mission, Bowser must finish one lap before Peach in the opposite direction.

Both missions involve racing for one lap.

In Mario Kart Wii[]

DS Peach Gardens is the second course of Mario Kart Wii.

Torments[]

In Mario Kart Wii, a tournament took place on this track. It was a time trial race, where players had to get past a larger number of Chain Chomps and Monty Moles. It was the second tournament of April 2009, and it was later repeated as the second tournament of April 2011, the second tournament of July 2012, and the first tournament of October 2013.

In Mario Kart Tour[]

DS Peach Gardens made its debut alongside Amsterdam Drift 3 in Mario Kart Tour in Peach vs. Bowser Tour in November 29, 2022.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]

Peach Gardens is the second course of Moon Cup in Wave 3 of Booster Course Pass. It retains its layout from Mario Kart Tour, but a new path at the northeast corner is revealed, and the racers are forced down it to follow the course in reverse for the rest of the race, making it one of the few courses where the racers cross the finish line in the same direction thrice (including when they start) and once in the opposite direction, other examples being Paris Promenade and Bangkok Rush.
