Paper Ninjis are a variant of Ninjis, which they resemble, except they are made out of paper.
Behavior[]
In the overworld, Paper Ninjis can hide flat under a grass-colored piece of paper, and when the Bros. and Paper Mario approach, the Ninji begins to pursue until they get out of range, and continue hiding.
Paper Ninjis are often encountered in battle with Ninjis. Both types can duplicate themselves, but the fake Paper Ninjis can be identified by the fact that they fold before attacking. Paper Ninjis can attack by jumping high into the air offscreen and slowly float downwards above the Bros. A Paper Ninji spins when it is above its target. When the Paper Ninji is above them again, it plunges downwards to strike the Mario Bro, but he can counter this using his hammer. If both a regular Ninji and a Paper Ninji are in battle, the Paper Ninji can be folded into a shuriken to be thrown by the regular Ninji. If only a Paper Ninji is in the battle, it will fold itself into a Star and throw itself at the player.

Paper Ninjis are commonly found at Gloomy Woods. Only one is fought in Neo Bowser Castle, as one of Bowser's last lines of defense, alongside a regular Ninji, a Spiny, and a Paper Spiny.
