Pair-a-Gone is one of Luigi's minigames in Super Mario 64 DS and a Table minigame in New Super Mario Bros.. In the former game, there is an endless variation named Pair-a-Gone and On.

Gameplay[]

The minigame features identical gameplay to Nestor. There are fifty cards, each depicting a certain type of icon, and the player must match any two cards adjacent to each other either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. To earn coins, the player has to match all of the cards in the set, which also earns them a Star. If the player is unable to match all of the pairs, they lose a coin for each remaining card and a Star.

There are a total of ten card types, six of which are available from the start and four of which are added as the minigame progresses. The six starter types include Mario, Luigi, Mushroom, Fire Flower, Star, and Cloud. The four types added later on include Goomba, Bowser, Boo, and Yoshi.

Trivia[]

  • The name Pair-a-Gone not only appears to mention the minigame's base objective, but it could also be a pun on "paragon."
