Overlook Mountain is a location which appears in Paper Mario: The Origami King.

Layout[]

The level starts at the bottom of Overlook Mountain in which Mario is following the path upwards. At the beginning of the path is the 1st Toad folded into a sign. Behind the Toad is the 1st Not-Bottomless Hole. To the left of the 1st Toad is a secret passage to the 1st Chest of the level. As Mario walks along the passage, he is ambushed by two red Origami Shy Guys. Inside the chest is the Collectible Treasure No.17 Lush Greenery. To the right of the chest is the 2nd Toad hidden behind some blades of grass.

Continuing back to the path, you can find the first Question Block over the path. Inside are Iron Boots. To the right of the Question Block is an Origami Spiny. The path ends at a gazebo with a sign out in front. The sign reads, " Insects Are People Too! Please be kind to our creepy, many-legged friends and approach slowly!" On top of the gazebo, in the middle, is the 2nd question block, which contains Iron Boots.

Inside the gazebo is the 2nd Not-Bottomless Hole. When filled in it reveals a bench. The path continues after Mario climbs up a flight of stairs. At the top of the stairs is the 3rd Toad, which is turned into an origami grasshopper. As you chase the grasshopper into the bushes behind the path, you find two more grasshoppers who are the 4th, and 5th Toads. Mario can jump of to the right of the path to climb onto the roof of the gazebo. He can then jump of the gazebo into a secret area with the 6th Toad, the 3rd Not-Bottomless Hole, and the 3rd Question Block, which contains a Fire Flower.

In the center of all of the bushes is a tree, that contains an Origami Spiny. When hit, the Origami Spiny will drop to the ground on its shell. In the following battle, the four Origami Spinies are all flipped over. To the left of the tree is an Origami Paragoomba, who is hiding behind a far left bush. Behind the Origami Paragoomba is the 4th Question Block, which contains a 100-Coin. Continuing along the path, you will find the 4th Not-Bottomless Hole. If you go behind the 2nd to last bush, you will find the 7th Toad turned into an origami beetle. Behind the last bush is another Origami Paragoomba. Further along the path is where the two Origami Shy guys drop from, and they will attack Mario is he approaches them.

Behind the Shy Guys is a Monty Mole auctioning for the Green Shell Stone to three Koopa Troopas.. The bidding starts at 10,000, then 5,000, then 3,000, then 2,000, 1000, 500, 300. At 300 coins, the three Koopa Troopas each pool there 100 coins to buy the Shell Stone. If you didn't buy the Shell Stone at the auction, then you must buy it from the Koopa Troopas for 1,500 coins.

Behind the auction is the 5th Not-Bottomless Hole, and to the left of it is a secret area that has a chest, which contains the No. 18 Collectible Treasure Paper Macho Goomba.

To the left of the Origami Shy Guys is a rock that contains a bag of confetti. Ahead in the path is a red #1 pipe that is a shortcut back to Toad Town. To open the pipe you must peal of the King Olly Tape. To the right of the pipe is a rock that contains a heart that heals 50 HP. Behind the pipe is another rock that contains the 8th Toad. There are two trees behind the pipe. On the left tree is the 6th Not-bottomless Hole. To the right of the right tree is the 7th Not-Bottomless Hole. There is a secret area behind a bush that is behind the two trees that contains the 8th Not-Bottomless Hole, and the 9th Toad.

As you approach the bridge at the end of the path, an Origami Goomba leads a Paper Macho Goomba onto the bridge. You must goad him into reaching the near side of the bridge so that you are able to hit him from behind. The path continues on the other side of the bridge, but there is a secret path behind the bridge that leads to the 9th Not-Bottomless Hole, and the 10th Toad. The Toad must be brought down by hammering the wall.

Following the path, there is the 10th Not-Bottomless Hole in a wall. Further along is a clearing with a Save Block and four rocks that are hidden behind bushes. When the back left rock is hit, the middle left bush moves. If this is hammered, then an Origami Goomba will pop out. Upon defeat it drops a Magic Circle that when used peals off a section of the wall. Inside the cutout is a Dry Bones who is holding the Yellow Shell Stone.

To the right of the clearing and path is the 11th Not-Bottomless Hole. Further right is another clearing with the 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Toads buried in the grass. The middle front Toad has an Origami Goomba eating it. The back right Toad is only visible by a hand. Behind the clearing is a secret path that leads to the 12th Not-Bottomless Hole, and the 5th Question Block, which contains a 100-Coin. To the right of the save block is the continuation of the path. Olivia recommends that you save before continuing the path. When you reach the top of the hill, an Origami Thwomp will fall down, forcing Mario at continue back down the path. As he his doing so, more Origami Thwomps will fall down. If Mario gets hit, it is a Game Over. Once you get off of the hill, and all of the Origami Thwomps fall down, then a Star will fall onto the tall tree to the right of the save block. You can use the Star, after knocking it out of the tree, to defeat all of the Origami Thwomps. If you don't defeat all of the Origami Thwomps in one usage of the Star, then the event will replay itself, and you will again have to escape the Origami Thwomps. However, if you leave any of all but the last Origami Thwomps, then they will all ascend into the air, all except the last one. There are eight Origami Thwomps in total.

To the left of the end of the Thwomp area is the 14th Not-Bottomless Hole. If you continue the grass path down the hill from the 14th Not-Bottomless Hole, then you will find the 17th Toad. Continuing the path to the right is the 15th Not-Bottomless Hole. The path splits, and it travels both up a hill, and straight right. Following straightly right are three Origami Spinies, which results in a wave battle. To the right of the Origami Spinies is the 15th Not-Bottomless Hole, along with the 6th Question Block, which contains a 100-Coin.

Following the path up the hill, Mario and Olivia find a Toad stuck by the Red Streamer against a tram. To the left of the path is an Origami Paragoomba. On the path is a sign that reads, "Autumn Mountain Tram →                   ← Overlook Tower." To the left of the sign is the 16th Not-Bottomless Hole and farther left is a staircase. Behind the staircase is a secret area with the 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th Toads. In front and to the of the staircase is the 7th Question Block, which contains a 100-Coin.

The path continues up the stairs. At the top of the stairs is a rock that contains a Bag of Confetti. Following the path, is the 17th Not-Bottomless Hole. Above the hole are three Origami Spinies who will jump down at Mario. The 17th Not-Bottomless Hole drops a heart that restores 50 HP.

At the top of the hill is Overlook Tower, which is lifted up on a mound of rocks. Near the bottom of the mound is an Earth Vellumental Magic Circle. To the left of the mound is a sign that reads, "← Overlook Sports Park" To the left of the sign is a trail that heads down to the Overlook Sports Park. On the sign is the 28th Toad. At the bottom of the path is a large clearing and a small clearing. In the small clearing are two bushes with an origami grasshopper behind the furthest bush, which is the 29th Toad. If you follow a path from the small clearing to the right, you will find the 8th Question Block, which contains 1000 Coins. A red Origami Shyguy will follow after you as you follow the path.

If you drop own from the gap in the fence, in the small clearing, you will find the 9th and last Question Block, which contains the 30th Toad.

In the big clearing, there are two Origami Shyguys who are playing with the 31st Toad. This battle contains an Origami Mechakoopa. When defeated the Origami Shyguys drop 1000 Coins. To the left of the clearing is a pipe that leads to the Earth Vellumental Temple.

Below the pipe is a path that leads downwards to an area with three Paper Macho Shyguys that are playing with the Red Shell Stone in a soccer field. You must knock over the Paper Macho Shyguys one at a time, so that the last Paper Macho Shyguy is forced to kick the Shell Stone to a knocked over Paper Macho Shyguy. After getting the Shell Stone, Mario must fight the three Paper Macho Shyguys. Upon defeat, the last Paper Macho Shyguy releases the 32nd, 33rd, and 34th Toads. They give Mario a heart that restores 50 HP. In the bottom left of the soccer field is a secret area that leads down to a Treasure Chest. Inside is the No.21 Collectible Treasure Paper Macho Shy Guy. This is the last and 5th Collectible treasure in this level.

If you return to the red World 1 pipe, then you will find the 35th Toad being cornered by an Origami Goomba.

The 36th Toad is located next to the raised Overlook Tower, and is trapped within the sign.

Once Olivia mentions that you have all of the Shell Stones, then you can take the pipe near Overlook Tower to return to the Earth Vellumental Temple.

Mario gains the power to lower Overlook Tower using the Earth Vellumental Magic Circle, after defeating the Earth Vellumental in the Earth Vellumental Temple. The Magic Circle fades black, and Mario can now enter Overlook Tower, after lowering Overlook Tower.

After the Colored Pencils are defeated in Overlook Tower, the Red Streamer that had wrapped itself around the tram is broken, allowing Mario to fill in the 18th and last Not-Bottomless Hole. The 37th Toad is also freed from the Red Streamer, and when approached is saved. The Toad is the operator of the tram, which can bring you to Autumn Mountain. The last and 38th Toad is in the forward right flower bed on the tram station, and can be hit out with a jump.
