The ON/OFF Switch is a type of block which first appears in Super Mario World.
Description[]
It can toggle between On and Off options. An ON/OFF Switch does not necessarily involve activating or deactivating a mechanism but instead is generally used to alter the black line path on which the Lift moves. While it reads "ON," the ON/OFF Switch is colored magenta (red in later appearances), and while it reads "OFF," the block is colored blue. Mario or another character can toggle between two options by either jumping at the ON/OFF Switch from below, whirling Cape Mario's cape next to it, or throwing an object at it, such as a Koopa Shell.
In Super Mario World[]
They are prominently featured in both Donut Plains 3 and Way Cool.
In Super Mario Maker 2[]
They can instead change the direction of Conveyor Belts and Tracks.
