Number Crunchers is a 1-vs.-3 Mic minigame in Mario Party 7.
Layout[]
The minigame takes place on nine pillars that stick out from the lava. The pillars are each grouped into three sets, with three of them depicting a "1," a "2," or a "3" respectively. Of these nine pillars, four are circular and five are square-shaped.
Red square pillars with "1" fill the northwestern and southwestern spaces, and there is a red circular pillar with a "1" at the eastern space. Blue square pillars embossed with the number "2" are in the northeastern and southeastern spaces, and a blue circular pillar with the number "2" appears in the western space. The northern and southern spaces have green circular pillars with the number "3" emblazoned on them, with a green square pillar with the number "3" in the central space.
Opening[]
The three teammates are standing on pillars, and the solo player speaks into the microphone, causing several Thwomps to drop.
Gameplay[]
Using the Nintendo GameCube Microphone (or selecting commands from a blue box if the Mic option is disabled), the solo character can select one of the commands: "1," "2," "3," "Circle," and "Square" as they try to eliminate the other three characters. The "1," 2," and "3" commands cause Thwomps to slam onto all pillars with the respective number on them, and likewise, the "Circle" and "Square" commands cause Thwomps to slam onto circular and square-shaped pillars, respectively.
The team has to avoid being crushed by the Thwomps sent down by the solo character and from falling into the lava within the 30-second time limit, because if a character touches either hazard, they are eliminated.
The solo character wins if they eliminate the other three, and the team wins if at least one of the team members remain until time runs out.
