The service's logo, featured on the front cover of any game with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection compatibility
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is one of the features for the Nintendo DS and Wii. As the name applies, it uses Wi-Fi Connection, so that players can play certain games via online connection. The first Mario game to make use of Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, let alone in general, is Mario Kart DS.
The Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U received their own successor titled Nintendo Network.
As of May 20, 2014, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection has been discontinued, making it no longer possible to do regular online play on any Nintendo DS or Wii game.
