Nintendo DS is a Battle Stage in Mario Kart DS. It is similar to the Mario Kart: Double Dash!! game's Nintendo GameCube Battle Stage. The course takes place atop a massive original Nintendo DS. The player can drive around the entire system; he/she can go on the top and bottom screens. Much like the Nintendo GameCube Battle Stage, this stage takes place in space.
The missions 1-5 and 7-6 take place in this area. First has Toad as the playable character in the game where he has to drive through six numbered gates in order within thirty seconds, while Mario has to do so with eight numbered gates in eleven seconds in the second mission.
In the North America kiosk demo build, the Nintendo DS course has a few differences. One is that it takes place place in a sunset area with a green sky with pink clouds. The Mario Kart DS title screen on the top screen was instead the start-up Nintendo DS screen. The bottom screen matched the stage's scenery.[1]
