The Nintendo 2DS is a handheld system created by Nintendo that is released in October 2013 and is the third model in the Nintendo 3DS family. It is considered a downgraded version of a Nintendo 3DS, but an upgraded version of a Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL. A newer, larger variation called the New Nintendo 2DS XL (New Nintendo 2DS LL) was released in mid-2017. The original 2DS and the New 2DS XL are the only models in the 3DS family not to be discontinued in any part of the world, yet. Unlike the other models in the family which are in 3D, Nintendo did not make the Nintendo 2DS XL (Nintendo 2DS LL) and New Nintendo 2DS and instead only made the Nintendo 2DS and New Nintendo 2DS XL.

Layout
The Nintendo 2DS is much different in appearance to the Nintendo 3DS, and any other console in the Nintendo DS/3DS line. For starters, the system itself appears to be one altogether meaning, unlike the 3DS, it cannot fold itself to save battery power during gameplay. The buttons are much more closer to the top on both sides. Because of this, no 3D function is added.
