Needlenose

Needlenose, or Needles,^[1] are enemies which first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]

Needlenoses are small spherical projectiles with spikes protruding from every angle, resembling a small cactus. They come in yellow and green variants. Whenever yellow Needlenoses are thrown at a Yoshi, they instantly pop. Green Needlenoses can be spat from either Blow Hards and Wild Ptooie Piranhas and do not pop when they hit Yoshi. Needlenoses are found mainly on cacti. When Yoshi swallows a Needlenose, the Cactus frowns and produces another one shortly afterward.

Needlenoses have a similar variant named Cactus Jack.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

Needlenoses make a reappearance, having the same role as before.
