Mario or his partners use a Mr. Softener, it reduces the enemies' defenses by 3. Mr. Softeners can be purchased at Niff T.'s Shop of Petalburg for 8 coins. Cooking a Courage Shell and a Point Swap together is another way of acquiring Mr. Softeners.
