Mewtwo is a playable character in the Super Smash Bros. series. It is from the Pokémon series and debuted in the Smash series from Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Biography

Mewtwo is a gentically created Pokémon that was created from Mew's cells. Mewtwo is a Legendary Pokémon and one of the first revealed in the entire series. Mewtwo is a very powerful Psychic-type Pokémon that is well known for it's fierce power in and out of it's series. Thanks to it's starring role in Mewtwo Strikes Back, Genesect and the Legend Awakened and Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, Mewtwo has became one of the most popular Pokémon of all time. Mewtwo has been featured in many other movies and made a single appearance in the anime where Giovanni used it to effortlessly defeat Gary. Mewtwo is one of two Pokémon to have two different Mega Evolution forms with the other one being Charizard. Many fans were upset that Mewtwo wasn't included in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (despite actually being one of the worst characters to use in Melee) but rejoiced when Mewtwo was announced as the first DLC character to be released in Super Smash Bros. 3DS/Wii U.

Mewtwo made its Super Smash Bros. series debut as an unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It can be unlocked after playing 20 cumulative hours of Versus Mode matches (5 hours for 4 players) or playing 700 Versus Mode matches.

Mewtwo was later announced in the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: 50-Fact Extravaganza as a playable character in Smash 4, becoming the first fighter in Super Smash Bros. history to be be made available as downloadable content.

Mewtwo returns as an unlockable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Trivia

  • Mewtwo is the only playable Legendary Pokémon in the Super Smash Bros. series. As such, it is also the only playable Pokémon without evolutionary relatives.
  • Mewtwo is the only genderless playable character from the Pokémon series.
  • Mewtwo's Mega Evolutions are tied with Mega Rayquaza for the highest base stat total of all Pokémon, with 780, excluding non-playable Eternamax Eternatus.
