Metroid-Samus is one of 9-Volt's microgames in WarioWare: Twisted!, and it returns in WarioWare Gold as one of 18-Volt's microgames. In the former game, Metroid-Samus takes place in Metroid, specifically the original Family Computer Disk System version, but in the latter game its visuals are based on Super Metroid.

The goal is to tilt the game console so that Samus can aim her Arm Cannon to shoot a laser at an enemy, which is different in each difficulty setting.

Layout[]

In WarioWare: Twisted!, the microgame takes place in a location that resembles the Starting Point in Brinstar. A difference is that the top and bottom are slightly cropped (at least one tile for each), the large midair block structures are missing, and the ceiling is slightly different, with the two lowest-hanging pieces missing. Throughout the microgame, Samus is standing face-forward raising her right arm, which is about twice as larger than usual. Samus has infinite ammunition, so if she misses, she can fire again. If she fails to defeat the enemy, the player loses.

Gameplay[]

WarioWare: Twisted![]

In the first difficulty level, a Ripper slowly travels to the left side of the screen, and the Samus Aran's Appearance Fanfare plays. Exclusive to this difficulty level is a red arrow with a circle at the base containing the letter "A," which is slightly above the Arm Cannon and aligns with it when the arm is turned. Upon firing, the symbol disappears.

The second difficulty level instead features a blue Waver, and it plays the classic Brinstar theme. The increased difficulty owes to the Waver moving faster than the Ripper. In this stage, the Waver flies left across the top of the screen. If allowed, it then bounces from the left and right sides, in a zig-zag pattern. Samus can instantly defeat the Ripper and the Waver upon a single hit.

The third difficulty level has a Metroid attempt to attack Samus while the ending theme plays. The goal is slightly different, as Samus must instead repel the Metroid from attaching itself to her until time runs out.

WarioWare Gold[]

Because Metroid-Samus is instead based on Super Metroid, most of the microgame has been changed for WarioWare Gold except the main objective. In the first difficulty setting, the Ripper has been replaced with a Zeela in Brinstar, and the Upper Brinstar theme plays instead. In the second difficulty setting, the Waver has been replaced with two Mellows in Crateria, and the Crateria - The Space Pirates Appear theme plays instead. The third difficulty setting still features a Metroid, but it now takes place in Tourian and plays the Super Metroid remix of Tourian's background music.
