Not to be confused with Meteor.

Meteorites (also called Meteors) are solid, stone, spherical, Meteor-like objects found in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are effectively items that Mario/Luigi can use to his advantage as they have their own gravitational field which allows the plumbers to walk along them. Meteors also have Ground Pound symbols on them indicating that they can be ground pounded, upon being ground pounded, the Meteorite will fly in the direction it was launched at. Meteors are typically found in the Bowser Galaxies where they are used to open locked dungeon gates, the plumbers can aim at the Bowser Locks to break them open and traverse onward, the Metorites spawn from the ground in unlimited supplies upon use which give the plumbers unlimited chances to break open the door. During his battles, Bowser hails down Meteorites as apart of one of his attacks, they land on the planet, when Bowser punches down on the planet, the Meteorites raise turning into ground poundable Meteorites, these are the key to defeating Bowser as they can be ground pounded into him (it's best to aim for the soft parts as Bowser's Shell is strong enough to withstand the Meteorite attacks). If Bowser punches down on a landed Meteorite, it will be completely destroyed and won't raise up so try to lure Bowser away from the Meteorites when he goes in for his punch attack. Meteorites also spawn in unlimited supplies during the final battle with Bowser and they must be launched at Bowser to defeat him once and for all. Meteorites are found in Bowser's Lava Lair, Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet, and Bowser's Galaxy Generator.

Trivia[]

  • During the game's intro after earning the very first Power Star from Peewee Piranha, Lubba mentions that Bowser blasted his Starship (later remodeled into Starship Mario) with Meteors, it's highly likely these were Meteorites as Meteors haven't been shown to do that much damage, not to mention some landed Meteors are seen around the wrecked Ship before it's repairing.
