Messy Memory is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 3 and Mario Party Superstars.
Gameplay[]
Messy Memory in Mario Party 3
Before the minigame starts, players have to try to memorize the items' locations on the shelves with the next few seconds they have. After that, many Toads (specifically red Toads in Mario Party Superstars) come onto the screen and tamper with the toys behind a cloud of white smoke. Once the Toads are done, the game reveals that they knocked down some of the items, leaving some in their proper places. The screen splits into four.
When the minigame starts, the players have to lift the items and place them back on the shelves in their proper spots in a matter of 30 seconds. The better the player memorized an item's location, the more accurate the placement. Once done, the player can close their curtains to prevent others from copying and wait for the timer to run out. They can open the curtains if they feel uncertain about the placement, so they can change at any time. When the timer runs out, the minigame ends. Any closed curtains then reopen, and the game shows the correct placement of each item from left to right. The player(s) who put the most items in their proper spots win(s). If a player earns fewer than three points, they automatically lose. In Mario Party 3, if everyone scores three points or fewer, the minigame ends in a draw. In Mario Party Superstars, this occurs if everyone scores zero.

The ten items, as seen in Rainbow Galleria in Super Mario Party Jamboree
- On a Nintendo Switch, if the player is playing either Mario Party 3 via Nintendo 64 - Nintendo Switch Online or Mario Party Superstars, they can take a screenshot of the shelf before the items get displaced and then look at the screenshot in their Album if they want a longer opportunity to memorize where the items go.
- In Super Mario Party Jamboree, all ten items from Messy Memory are displayed behind one of the windows in Rainbow Galleria.
