  • Hello, Derek. I know you are asleep, so I will leave this message here so you may reply when you wake up.

    Anyways, I was thinking that we change the requirements for the requests for adminship/content moderator/discussions moderator/bureaucrat. So, we should increase the requirements and add in some new rules as I feel like they current rules aren't experienced enough. Here are the new requirements;

    MarioWiki:Requests for rollback requirements

    Limit of members: 4

    • Must have a total of 100 mainspace edits. Edits made on comments, user pages, messages, etc. will not count.
    • Must be on the wiki for at least 2 weeks.
    • Must have not been blocked on the wiki once.
    • The user must not receive a warning once.
    • The request form must be informative and explain why you want to become a rollback and how they will help out more.

    MarioWiki:Requests for discussions moderator requirements

    Limit of members: 2

    • Must have a total of 500 mainspace edits. Edits made on comments, user pages, messages, etc. will not count.
    • Their account is 4 days old.
    • Must be on the wiki for 1 month.
    • The user must post appropriate discussions and comments.
    • Must not have been blocked on the wiki once.
    • Must have been a rollback for 3 weeks.
    • The user must not receive a warning on the discussions.
    • The request form must be informative and explain why you want to become a discussions moderator and how you will help out more.

    MarioWiki:Requests for content moderator requirements

    Limit of members: 3

    • Must have a total of 1,000 mainspace edits. Edits made on comments, user pages, messages, etc. will not count.
    • Must be active on the wiki for 2 months.
    • Must not be blocked from the wiki once.
    • Must be a discussions moderator for a month.
    • The user should have undone edits that are inappropriate, spam, vandalism, troll, etc.
    • The request form must be informative and explain why they want to become a content moderator and how they will help out more.

    MarioWiki:Requests for adminship requirements

    Limit of members: 5

    • Must have a total of 2,000 mainspace edits. Edits made on comments, user pages, messages, etc. will not count.
    • Must not have been blocked on the wiki once.
    • Must have been a content moderator for 2 months.
    • The request form must be informative and explain why you want to become a admin and how you will help out more.

    MarioWiki:Requests for bureaucrat requirements

    Limit of members: 2

    • Must have a total of 5,000 mainspace edits. Edits made on comments, user pages, messages, etc. will not count.
    • Must not have been blocked on the wiki once, and must not be warned once.
    • Must have been on the wiki for a year.
    • Must have been a admin for a year.
    • The request form must be informative and explain why you want to become a bureaucrat.

I will also be setting limits of how many members in each group are allowed to be in. Please let me know what you think! You may consult Zeo about this and copy and paste my message. If you are both in support, may I make a proposal for it? Thanks!

    • I am satisfied with your ideas, but there are several statements I agree and disagree.

      • "Must not be blocked on the wiki once." and "must not be warned once" shouldn’t be part of the criteria. To be blocked once doesn’t give hope to users who have been blocked, it will be a permanent record anyway, so I don’t think it is fair. Being warned once indicates the user is on the edge of getting blocked and is giving a user a chance to finally not perform that action. If thoses statements becomes a criteria, there will be no hope of becoming a staff. I like to keep "Clean block record for a (duration)" meaning that the user must survive the unblockage for a certain duration. Unblockage is the process of being unblocked. "Clean block record for a month" meaning the user must survive the one block unblockage.
      • I still think we should allow users to be content moderators for a month.
      • There should not be a required limit for the amount of users to be a staff.
      • I believe users must be on the wiki for a month to become a staff (rollback, content moderator, discussions moderator, administrator and bureaucrat), it convinces me that they have been on the wiki longer.
      • I agree with "The request form must be informative and explain why you want to become a rollback and how they will help out more." Users must explain why they want to become a staff, we will know they are serious to become a staff.
      • Smart move that users must become a discussions moderator by editing more than 500 mainspace edits.
      • I will be convinced if users make 1,000 mainspace edits on MarioWiki to become a rollback.
      • "Must be on the wiki for (duration)." should be changed to "Must be active on the wiki for 1 month."
      • "The user should have undone edits that are inappropriate, spam, vandalism, troll, etc." - if possible... but it can be a bonus to become a content moderator.

      • If a user was blocked it shows that they are immature to have user rights, but I can drop the "Must not be warned once" part.
      • Sure, but don't you think it would be too soon to jump to admin position after just a simple month of having content moderator rights?
      • Alright, if you say so.
      • Sure, that can work.
      • And definitely, or else it should not be approved.
      • Thank you.
      • Rollback is basically a lower position to content moderator, so maybe 500 mainspace edits for rollback, 750 edits for discussions moderator, 1,000 for content moderator, and so on.
      • Yes, I can change that part.
      • Yes, it can be.

      • Being blocked does not necessarily mean the user is immature, they did not follow a rule.
      • I will consider that.
      • Sure.
      • You're welcome.
      • True, but to see someone make more than 1,000 mainspace edits means they are dedicated to the role. 500 mainspace edits is an easy go.

      • Alright, that can pass, unless if they do something on purpose like spamming, cursing, troll, vandalism or removing all content from pages, etc.
      • Alright.
      • ...
      • ...
      • Yep.
      • ☺.
      • Yeah, but content moderator is basically similar to admin rights but I will consider some alternatives.

  • Hello, Derek, I just wanted to say, I'm sorry if it seems like I was being hostile to you. It's just the fact that I am tired of users ignoring the rules here that I want to show that the wiki will no longer tolerate this. And there is another reason, that I do not want to say, as it may happen again, but apologies if I had seem harsh to you, Derek.

  • The current navigation is packed with content, so much so that only the first four of six tabs display at the top. The solution would be to merge existing tabs (such as locations and items) and the merge of MarioWiki and Community tabs. Alternatively, the MarioWiki and Community tabs could be removed entirely as they are editor focused rather than for readers. Let me know what you think.

    • I previewed it and I like it. Unfortunately, I don’t know if we are ever going to have forums yet. Also, I want to allow Zeo's approval. Zeo is the adopter of MarioWiki since 2012.

    • It looks pretty good!

And I only tell Derek to wait for how I feel about this because, like he mentioned twice, I did adopt this wiki so I do need to look over these major changes before they get implemented. Just to make sure it looks good (which is usually the case).

  • I would like to suggest the replacement of the Navigation images (such as this) as it conflicts with Search engine optimization (SEO). This is because the system cannot read the text on the image and only sees it as a normal image. The solution would be to replace the image and overlay the navigation word on top of it such as this. Please let me know of your thoughts on the matter and feel free to make a blog post to discuss it if necessary.

  • Hey, Derek, I have two questions to ask you.

    1. Do you like the new color for the infoboxes? I used the infobox colors from Ninjago Wiki. Are there any improvements I should make? I especially like the blue, purple and pink infoboxes.

    2. Do you think we should step our game up? From now on, I would like to consider that the Broken Links template should be added if there are 4 broken links, and a article should be considered a stub if it is under 1,000 bytes instead of 800. This will kinda forces users (in a way) to "stop talking and start helping!"

    3. How are you liking the new rules I will add to the wiki in some day's time? Do you like them? Are you in support? Are there any improvements I could make? I will be adding some new rules into the wiki such? What new rules? That will be a surprise you will have to wait and see...

    • I do have a rule where a user cannot edit more than 5 times on the same page in one day but maybe something a little more stronger is needed.

        Loading editor
    • Yes, this time, this wiki needs to step up a notch to show what the community excepts from all users. So, when may I make the proposal?
