Melon Bug

Melon Bugs are a pill bug-like species that assist the Yoshis in various parts of their journey in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its remake Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. A Melon Bug jumps up and down until a Yoshi approaches it, upon which the Melon Bug curls up into a ball. The Yoshi can eat then spit out the Melon Bug to have it roll along a path, defeating any enemies in the way. A Yoshi can also swallow a Melon Bug to turn it into an egg.
