Profile[]
Physical description[]
The Mega Goomba is a larger variant of the Goomba enemy.
Attacks[]
- Giant Stomp Walk: This is Mega Goomba's only attack that he stomps hoping to crush Mario.
Battle[]
After reaching the end of World 4-Castle, Mario encounters a regular Goomba, who immediately grows to a massive size, presumably due to the Mega Mushroom power-up.
To defeat the Mega Goomba, Mario needs to hit a ? Switch which will activate two rising platforms. The platforms will allow Mario to get high enough to reach the top of the Mega Goomba's head and Ground Pound it. The Mega Goomba must be Ground Pounded three times to defeat him, or alternatively, twenty-seven fireballs, or nine Ground Pounds while as Mini Mario. There is also another method to defeat the Mega Goomba, and it requires the use of Blue Shell Mario. Blue Shell Mario must hide in one of the alcoves, and once the Mega Goomba steps over Mario, he must jump, instantly defeating the Mega Goomba in three quick and easy hits.
Defeating the Mega Goomba grants Mario the key to go to World 5.

Trivia[]
- This Goomba originated in the very first previews of New Super Mario Bros. or as it was called back then, Super Mario Bros. DS in which it was a normal level enemy Goomba until it was caught in contact with a Mega Mushroom which made it the same size as it was in the current game. This new and innovative feature was taken out for unknown reasons, possibly due to the game being extremely hard if certain enemies turned mega.
- When the Mega Goomba grows, it makes a sound similar to Mario changing into Mega Mario, only it is somewhat more evil sounding.
- The Mega Goomba is the second Goomba boss the first being Goomboss.
