Mecha-Bowser Mayhem is a single-player minigame in Mario Power Tennis. It is played on the Bowser Castle Court.

Gameplay[]

The objective is to defeat Mecha-Bowser before he defeats them. Mecha-Bowser can use a few attacks. One of them involves Mecha-Bowser shooting out Bob-ombs and Bullet Bills. Another one is breathing fire, covering a wide area of the field. If the player's character gets hit from any of his attacks, they take damage.

To attack Mecha-Bowser, the player's character has to toss powered-up tennis balls at him. Alternatively, they can deflect the Bob-ombs or Bullet Bills that it launches back at him. There are two power-up items, Mushrooms and Stars, both of which grant a temporary advantage rather than to attack Mecha-Bowser. Mushrooms allow the player's character to move faster temporarily, while Stars grant temporary invincibility.

Mecha-Bowser Mayhem is featured in three difficulties: Aluminum Frame (Beginner), Iron Frame (Intermediate), and Titanium Frame (Advanced). The only difference between each difficulty setting is that Mecha-Bowser has more health in the higher difficulty levels. In Aluminum Frame, Mecha-Bowser's health bar is the same as the player's character; in Iron Frame, his health bar is twice as long as the player's character; and lastly the Titanium Frame gives him a health bar that is three times as long.

In the New Play Control! release, the player's character cannot shoot powered-up energy balls unless they are under the effects of a power-up. Mushrooms no longer grant a temporary speed boost. Mecha-Bowser's attacks deal less damage, but more Bob-ombs and Bullet Bills appear. Stars retain their temporary invincibility effect, but in addition to this, they also enable the player's character to shoot even more powerful energy balls.
