Biography

The prince and heir of the kingdom of Altea, and the hero of most of the Archanea games. Exiled to Talys in the beginning of the War of Shadows after his father was betrayed by former ally Gra, Marth united the forces of Altea, Aurelis and Archanea to rise up against Dolhr and kill the revived Medeus. Three years later, he clashed head-on with the mad Emperor Hardin of Archanea in the War of Heroes. In time, Archanea would come to be united under his rule as the War of Heroes took its toll on the rulers of other nations, and he would go down in history as the legendary Hero-King; thousands of years later, his descendants are the royal family of Ylisse, including Chrom, Emmeryn, Lissa, Owain and Lucina.

Super Smash Bros. series

Melee

Marth is first playable in Super Smash Bros. Melee. His design is based off his appearance from Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem.

Brawl

Marth returns as an unlockable playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Like Melee, his appearance is based on his design from Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. Marth has superior reach to most characters in the game, and relies on the length of his sword to effectively zone against his opponents.

Smash 4

Marth returns as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Marth is now a starter character, as opposed to being an unlockable character as he was in Melee and Brawl. He has been visually updated to closely match to his design from Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow, although Falchion retains its design from the original Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem.
