"Mario of the Deep" is the forty-seventh animated episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the live-action episode "Two Bums From Brooklyn."

Plot[]

Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad arrive in Aqualand to defeat King Koopa, known throughout the episode by his alias Barra-Koopa, who has captured King Neptune. As they travel along, they discover a Blooper that is attacking a Mermushroom. The Mario Brothers confront the Blooper and after a brief fight, Mario manages to get rid of it by hitting it with a discarded anchor.

Meanwhile, Barra-Koopa tries to mock King Neptune but finds the sea king is far too easy going to be hurt by his words. Barra-Koopa is informed of the Marios' appearance and gets ready to get rid of the Marios.

The Marios search the ocean floor and discover that the Mermushrooms are being forced to bring all the gold coins from sunken ships to Barra-Koopa. The Mario brothers fight some of the Bloopers and the Princess dresses up as a female Blooper distracting three of them. While the Bloopers are defeated, Barra-Koopa manages to capture his enemies in a net. He then locks them up in a Trouter and Piranha Plant infested ship.

The group manages to escape the Trouters and Piranha Plants but are then confronted by a Clawgrip. They manage to escape this creature too, and get out of the ship. The Mermushroom shows the group where King Neptune is being kept and they free him. King Neptune then attacks Barra-Koopa's palace with a whale and the Marios come in armed with swordfish. After a brief fight, the Marios manage to beat Barra-Koopa's henchmen and drive him off with a swordfish constantly poking him.
