MA:TUR |
The Upcoming Rule or TUR is a rule established for upcoming subjects from confirmed future media.
Purpose[]
Prior to TUR, there were users who have inserted false information continuously that articles had to be protected until the subject released. However, that resulted a huge disadvantage: editors could not add information while the protection was restricted to administrators and content moderators to edit, and upcoming content blew up such as Mario Kart Tour tours. Since June 2022, editors have made a massive contribution filling the information about The Super Mario Bros. Movie before the Mario movie released as a featured article and our wiki got promoted through the article's information! While the editors genuinely tried their best to add true information based on references, there was a minority of editors who bothered to insert false information of who is voicing who with a lack of evidence.
The implementation of The Upcoming Rule aims to benefit editors as they add information while abiding by the rules. Given the limit of violating the rules results the page to be protected.
Templates[]
- {{Upcoming game}} is for video games itself. Add it on top of the page.
- {{Upcoming subject}} is for other pieces of media or a subject that is not a game. Add it after the heading.
Rules[]
- Citing sources. Please cite the reliable source where you found the information.
- Unknown titles. If the title of a subject is not confirmed, come up with a name that can describe the subject. Until the name is confirmed, it can be renamed to that title.
- Edit warring. If you are part of an unexpected edit war, please talk on the subject's talk page and discuss why you do not agree with the information (ex. An edit war occurs atThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, talk at Talk:The Super Mario Bros. Movie.)
- Page protection. If the content moderator or admin sees an unending edit conflict between users or false information continuously placed there, the page has to be protected depending on how long the content moderator believes it should be. The limit of protection must be up to the subject's upcoming release.
- Violating TUR. If the users continuously violate one of the rules of TUR, the page will be protected for three days. If it occurs after three days, the protection will extend for a week. A repetition of the TUR violation will extend to one month, then three months with the maximum at until the subject has released.
- Request for adding information. If you found information that you believe must be added and you cannot edit an article that is protected, please let an active content moderator or administrator know and present us the reference of the information. The staff will unprotect the page temporarily for a day or until the user adds the information.
